Long Term Investment to Tackle the European Housing Crisis
27 apr 2026
On the Monday 20th, the Investment Intergroup convened leading voices from the European Union to explore a pressing question: How can long-term investment be strategically mobilized to address Europe’s housing crisis, ensuring that social and affordable housing remains accessible, sustainable, and financially viable for citizens?
Chaired by Annalisa Corrado, this event welcomed the participation of Irene Tinagli, Chair of the European Parliament on Housing Crisis Committee, Borja Giménez Larraz, Rapporteur of the European Parliament Report on the Housing Crisis, and Matthew Baldwin, Head of the European Commission’s Housing Taskforce.
Together, policymakers, key industry stakeholders, and public and private investors from our partners organisations such as Groupe Caisse des Dépôts, the EPRA (European Public Real Estate Association), INREV, the EHI – Association of the European Heating Industry, SEFA | The Sustainable Energy Finance Association, and Solar Heat Europe, exchanged on their perspectives and solutions to one of the most pressing EU policy topics.
📌 A key takeaway is that regulatory stability and the mobilization of both public and private capital are critical to overcome this challenge
