🧬 Financing Europe’s biotech future: from ideas to scale
On Thursday, 4 June 2026, the Investment for a competitive and sustainable EU Intergroup hosted a roundtable chaired by MEP Stine Bosse on a key question for Europe’s future: how do we better finance biotech and life sciences companies so they can grow from strong scientific ideas into global players?
The exchange brought together key voices from across the ecosystem, including Thomas Van Cangh (European Commission, Biotech Task Force), Cindy Daniel (European Investment Fund (EIF)), Antoine de Lachaux (European Investment Bank (EIB)), Naveed Siddiqi (Novo Holdings) and Edward van Wezel (BGV (BioGeneration Ventures)). The event has been moderated by Martin Bresson, from our partner organisation- Invest Europe.

– Europe is a global leader in science and innovation, but still faces a structural gap in scaling companies at home due to fragmented markets and insufficient of capital.
– We need more long-term private and public investments to support companies as they scale.
– Funding should work across the whole journey of a company (from early research to growth, IPO, and beyond) supported by stronger European capital markets.
