Partners-Only Workshop on Financing Europe’s Industrial Decarbonisation

On the 24th of March, the Investment Intergroup workshop, co-organised with France Industrie, at the European Parliament: how can the EU Emissions Trading System evolve into a robust long-term investment tool that effectively supports the European industry decarbonisation?

Chaired by Pascal Canfin with the participation of Emma Wiesner, the workshop convened Alexandre Saubot, Philippe Kehren, Corinna Grajetzky, Alberto Toril Castro, David Valenti, ERIC BOURDON, Victor van Hoorn, Dorthe Nielsen and Jorine Zandhuis — representing industry, private and public investors, and academia — for a frank and substantive exchange on the future direction of the ETS for the decades ahead.

Participants shared their hands-on experience with the Innovation Fund and the Decarbonisation Bank, and put forward a wide range of propositions to strengthen the ETS as a durable investment framework, built for the scale and timeline that the industrial transformation demands.

The diversity of perspectives and the openness of the debate are exactly what makes this kind of exchange so valuable and solutions-oriented.
