Across the European Union, pension systems are under increasing pressure from demographic ageing, longer life expectancy, and rising fiscal constraints. At the same time, Europe faces a growing need for long-term investment to strengthen competitiveness, support innovation, and finance the green and digital transitions.

While public pension schemes remain central, supplementary and occupational pensions are becoming increasingly important to ensure adequate retirement income and to mobilise long-term private capital for Europe’s economy. This dual role places pensions at the heart of the EU’s broader debate on capital markets, savings mobilisation, and future growth.

How can Europe close the pension adequacy gap while unlocking long-term savings to invest in its economic future?

Chaired by MEP Dirk Gotink, this event will bring together policymakers, regulators, and industry representatives to discuss how Europe can strengthen its pension systems and deepen long-term savings markets.
